App development
Native iPhone apps, designed and built by one person who ships his own.
I build iPhone and iPad apps in Swift and SwiftUI — Apple’s own tools — for businesses that need an app to feel like it belongs on the phone, not a website in a box. I’ve published my own apps, so I know the whole road: the design, the code, the App Store review, the support inbox.
Who this is for · 01
- Small businesses with a process that’s outgrown spreadsheets and paper — bookings, field work, stock, inspections.
- Startups who need a first version that’s good enough to show investors and real enough to test with customers.
- Organisations who need an internal tool their staff will actually use.
- Founders with an idea who want a straight answer on whether it should be an app at all.
If your users are on Android or the app needs to run on both platforms, I’m probably not your developer — and I’ll say so in the first conversation. I build native iPhone apps because that’s what I’m best at.
Why native, why Swift · 02
Cross-platform frameworks promise one codebase for two platforms. What they deliver is an app that’s almost right on both. Native Swift and SwiftUI means:
It feels like an iPhone app
The gestures, the transitions, the accessibility features, the widgets all work the way iOS users expect.
Ready for what Apple ships next
New iOS features are available in Swift on day one.
Faster and lighter
No runtime bridge, no wrapper.
Maintainable
One language, Apple’s tooling, no third-party layer that might be abandoned in three years.
What you get · 03
Design
I’m a designer first. Every screen is designed before it’s built — flows, wireframes, then real UI in Apple’s design language. Accessibility (VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, contrast) is designed in, not bolted on.
Build
Swift and SwiftUI. Where the app needs a backend — accounts, sync, data — I build that too, or connect to what you already have.
Ship
App Store Connect, TestFlight for beta testers, screenshots, the listing copy, the privacy declarations, review submission. I’ve done this for my own apps; I know where the rejections hide.
Support
After launch, a care plan if you want one: iOS updates, bug fixes, small improvements.
Proof · 04
I don’t just build apps for other people.
- Budgeteer — fortnightly budgeting, web plus a native iPhone and iPad app in SwiftUI.
- Electra — Australia’s EV finder, 100+ models, a recommendation engine. Web and iPhone.
- Taxare — the catch-up tax app, launching for the October 2026 deadline. Web and iPhone.
- GetFit — a fitness program generator built on a rules engine. Web and iPhone.
Each one was designed, built, shipped and supported by me.
How a project runs · 05
Discovery
A conversation, then a short written brief: what the app does, who it’s for, what “done” looks like. This is where I tell you if it shouldn’t be an app.
Scope and quote
A fixed scope for a first release, and a quote for it. Every job is bespoke; here’s what drives the cost.
Design
Flows and screens, reviewed with you before any code.
Build
In short cycles. You get a TestFlight build to try at each one.
Launch
App Store submission, and I handle the review.
After
Support and a roadmap for what’s next.
Questions · 06
How long does an app take?
A focused first release is typically 8–16 weeks from brief to App Store. The biggest variable is how much backend the app needs.
How much does an app cost?
It depends on screens, data, accounts and integrations — I explain each of those on the process page. I quote after discovery, and the quote is fixed for the scope we agree.
Do you build Android apps?
No. If you need Android, I can recommend people who do it well.
Who owns the code?
You do, on final payment. Source code, App Store listing, everything.
Can you take over an existing app?
Sometimes — if it’s Swift. Send me the repository and I’ll tell you honestly.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes.

Got something to build?
Tell me what you’re trying to do and I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right person for it — and if not, who might be.
